The Bob Harris gig…….star of the show, don’t miss……he has heard every band you can think of……times a hundred. Missed him at Signals, but saw the video👍

Vague sense that’s a safe, predictable and not a little tired looking line up of kit and speakers. Luckily for me it clashes with the always excellent Louder Than Words festival in Manchester, which makes an always compelling case. Have seen Bob elsewhere in the NW this year and ,fair play, the man has a way of making the compelling deeply dull. Several of his anecdotes very clearly belong to other people too.

I was a bit surprised to receive the flyer as I rather thought the Acoustica event had been swallowed by the NW Audio Show. Acoustica certainly had a big presence there, this year.

But I might pop over to Chester. It’s a pleasant venue.

Roger

I’m six miles away so might pop in

“Man struggles with different opinion to his own on a discussion forum but can’t articulate why so goes for polite ad hom.” Ad hom nevertheless.

If you think my two assertions re: the show and Bob are wrong then by all means tell us why. I presume you’ll have seen Bob etc. and will be able to comment in full. No? Oh…

In the meantime, I wholly stand by my post. YMMV.

I would be disappointed if otherwise.

As you will be by the show and Bob.

When I was promoting concerts for a few years we looked at Bob Harris, but he’s really expensive. I wondered how Acoustica could afford it, and see that he’s sponsored by Dynaudio. I wonder how that works.

Basically, they pay him for his time……and listen through Dynaudio speakers. Its a bit different to the normal turn up for a launch event and just listen.

You make the pair

I got the brochure as I’ve purchased a few items from Acoustica. I don’t understand why people have to post negative things, if you haven’t got something nice to say then don’t say it is my motto. Anyway, each to their own.

Regarding the actual topic, it’s too far for me to travel; but I was very interested to read about the Dynaudio 20 active speakers in the brochure which have the amps built into the speaker stands. I’m not sure if this has been done before, but it’s a very innovative solution in my opinion. Fair play to them.

15 miles away from me so would be mad to miss the chance and always like to visit this one as there isn’t much opportunity for the down time and to enjoy a bit of music at a show this close by

I bought my first Naim boxes from Acoustica many years ago and although I’m not a regular spender on new items the guys are always super friendly, helpful and happy to spend their time chatting over kit

Well worth a visit, in my view

There might not be anything new/interesting from Naim to tempt one but I’m sure the new Dynaudio C20-A will be worth hearing and there’s a British audio brand I’ve never heard of to discover. Definitely thinking of going especially as I’m in B’ham the Sat evening anyway.

Linn did it with the Akudorik stand mounts.

I’m confident it’s because people have opinions and a discussion forum is one place you can express those. One persons “negative” is another’s “realistic” or “based on actual experience”. Provided those opinions are expressed with some knowledge of what they speak and discussed with some civility then I don’t see an issue. Never met two people with identical opinions in my life and goodness life would be dull if I did.

Given that you’ve literally expressed a negative perspective on negative posts I’d suggest your motto hasn’t been well thought out  Clearly it’s neither of your last two sentences.

Dynaudio have been making active speakers for many years, but this is a higher end (Confidence range) model and putting the electronics in the stand, not the speaker, seems like a great idea. There are quite a few active speakers which are essentially a passive design that has been modified to squeeze an amp and active crossover into the existing box, which must surely be a design compromise.
