I like my current rack, but don’t want it to get any taller. I also have a friend who tends to hoard his old HiFi gear and he has offered me a Flatcap XS!
My issue is how do I add it? I came up with my DIY Mezzanine solution because the equinox rack has a lot of space between the “ground” and “first floors”. It is very stiff acrylic on small isolation pads and the Flatcap will sit on top.
Seems like a good idea and looks neat enough to me.
I went with a basement on mine, but being made of Cherry, it was easy to cut a slot for a lower shelf😊
I stacked my Naim boxes when I got rid of my Fraim, in favor of HRS racks.
It actually sounds better too. I have HRS dampers between my 252/300 and SCDR/300PS, and isoAcoustics isolation feet between my NDX2/XPSDR (which I’m getting rid of anyway).
I have no shame whatsever.
I don’t need my balls now. Anyone want to buy them [Fraim]?
So I’ve now got the Flatcap XS in situ and nothing has collapsed!
I hooked it up to the CD5 and I think it did improve the sound. I left it like that for a while to get used to the difference and today hooked it up to the XS3. Again I think I can hear an improvement. Powering both these components seems to improve clarity and there is more detail. Not sure there is £1000 difference but worth having as a freebie. My only question now, is what do I do with all the new cabling?
