Adding units to Naim app

I had to reboot my LAN yesterday but my system only recognises my NDS and one of my Unitiqutes. I have tried adding the IPs manually but the app does not recognise the units. The missing ‘qutes don’t show up in Roon either.

I’ve scanned my LAN to check the IP addresses and MACs but can’t work out what’s the problem. Any ideas?

Have you tried turning the offending items off for a few minutes, and then on again?

I am sure HH is right. With the legacy streamers, so including NDS and Unitiqutes, they don’t reconnect to the LAN the way they should if the router has been restarted. This is a bug introduced in somewhere about firmware version 4.3, but I never persuaded Naim that the problem is real, so it remains in 4.8. Gen 1 & 2 Muso and Qb are ok and new Uniti and new platform streamers are ok. I presume NC is, but other legacy streamers aren’t.

Anyway just turn the power off on any missing legacy streamer for a few seconds (it doesn’t need even one minute) and then turn it on again and all will probably be fine.

Yep @HungryHalibut … same time as rebooting the wall router.
Gigaclear recommended turn everything off, router off for 15 min, then turn on, wait another 15 minutes before turning on switch and units.

Thanks @davidhendon for the info. I tried the quick turn off / on several times, but no joy.

I’ve noticed that Roon / RPi UPnP sometimes needs overnight to recognise the ‘Qutes, but not this time. Another overnight is no hardship to wait.

What was the result of the scan? Are the missing streamers found by your DHCP server?

Qutes don’t support roon, so roon will never see the qute- unless there’s an extension you are using ? Are you using raspberry pi as a roon bridge? In which case the raspberry should show up in roon.

What do you see when you go into the settings in the qute to see network status?

Yes @ChrisSU all Naim beasts show their ip and MAC addresses, just not found by the app, until just now. All present and correct.

You are right @robert_h that the ‘Qutes are not Roon ready, but as you surmise the RPi runs a Roon Bridge but for some reason they were not being displayed as an audio outlet. Eventually after several attempts to reboot the RPi I remembered that the licence usb stick needed to be removed after a reboot. I think I had not been removing it quick enough after the reboot.

Thanks all for your comments and advice … until the next time!
