I have the worst track record for placing pre orders for CD’s & Vinyl when releases are announced and then receiving an email the day before release and ordering the darn thing again.
I must of done this a dozen times🤦🏻♂️
So I have learnt my lesson and created an IoS Note to track my Pre Orders.
Am I alone in this particular foolishness, or have any of you guys ended up with duplicate copies of new releases…?![]()
I’ve done this on Bandcamp, and ended up with two of the same album. I emailed them, fessed up to being a wally and asked for a refund for one of them. They were very obliging and I got my money back within a couple of days. I put it down to being aged and generally discombobulated.
Nigel, I have done it SOOO many times.
Kris Barras, Elles Bailey, Halestorm twice on two different albums and the list goes on…![]()
It’s just ridiculous, I have no other recurring memory issues. It’s just pre orders ![]()
I have an unopened set of the Lou Reed New York 30th anniversary box-set, it was a bit of a surprise when two turned up from different pre-order sites. I also found multiple duplicates when I ripped my CDs.
Closest I’ve come is when I get something I already have as a gift.
“But you had it on your wish list last Christmas!”
“Yeah, and I didn’t get it, so I treated myself at some point in the last 12 months!”
I buy classical music from Presto but recently I have been streaming it from them for instead. I only buy a download when it’s something I really don’t want to not have. Recently I did some buying after months of not having done so and was a bit surprised later to find that I had bought two albums twice, nearly a year apart. But never downloaded them the first time, so they weren’t in my Core.
I didn’t ask for a refund. I just put it down to experience and will try to ensure I download albums I have bought in future!
There is a linked mistake I’ve made more than once. Ordering the LP and a CD so that I can rip the CD for streaming, without reading the description to notice that the LP came with a 24bit download code. I managed to do that on two consecutive Richard Thompson releases.
I’ve done this multiple times over the past 2 years, including pre-ordering twice the Woodland deluxe set by Gillian Welch & David Rawlings. Thinking of taking the unopened one to a local record store to see if I can get some $ for it.
Pre-ordered something once and it arrived after everyone else was able to just walk into a shop and buy it. On reflection it seemed an utterly pointless action so if I see an announcement I simply note the artist, item and release date in my iOS “Music”reminders. At that point I can just go listen on streaming and make a decision.
