Allae speaker issue

I’m new to the world of Naim, and recently got hold of some Allae speakers. Sad times that one of the tweeters is toast it seems.

I’ve read endlessly the threads on the discontinued scan speak part and how the newer part is a different screw format and requires cabinet mods.

I’ve got a couple of questions if there is some experience out there.

Is there someone out in the wild who refurbs the existing unit? I know you can but generic coils, but I hear it’s hit and miss?

If only one unit is changed, will I be able to tell the difference between the two speakers? And does modding the case bugger future resale? Especially having to drill the front plate

Should I just give up  and sell them..

Sorry for all the questions on my first post, but the 1 speaker sounds awesome?

Search Google for “New Briks Isobariks”, they may be able to help.

Well worth fixing IMHO.

The OP should contact their dealer.

There would be little point as these speakers are obsolete with no spare parts. The best option is a pair of new Scanspeak tweeters but mods are needed to be able to fit them.

Welcome Pk600, and good luck. I didn’t like the Allaes when I tried them, but a while later realised that the reason was their transparency; that they had revealed weaknesses elsewhere in the system.

Epic, I’ll drop them a note. Thx

Jaybar is not the OP.

Ta!

I have a pair of Allaes and had to replace one of the tweeters, it’s not that difficult a job and the drilling will be hidden by the plate of the tweeter and I haven’t had to replace the old working tweeter on the other speaker and they do sound excellent

Same thing happened to me. I ordered a new pair of Scanspeaks from Willy’s Hifi and fitted then without issue. Slight widening of the driver recess’s was required and of course some soldering, but that’s it. I understand a real upgrade and straight swap is a pair of Hiquphons if you can afford it…
