Does anyone have any idea where I can get the KS-1 in Germany?
Very good to know, and from a second member with the same cable experience. Thanks Graeme.
I bought mine online from Analog Seduction in England.
The incompetent German distributor did not reply to my enquiry.
Hi GraemeH, thanks for your comments, very helpful. I came to Phantom, via Nordost Red Dawn Rev2, and thought the Phantom were way better to my ears, especially as the Nordost were twice the cost of of the Phantom cables.
I currently have full loom WitchHat cables - I replaced my Naim Snaic and Red Dawn interconnects over the course of about 10 months and last change was to the Phantom speaker cables.
So as you prefered the KS-1 over the Spectre and Phantom, please could you give some idea of how the sound of the KS-1 was different from the Phantom? I totally accept it will be your subjective view.
Thanks
Best wishes Amer
Hello
Have the Phantom in 3.5m, was standard with them.
Nova + 250DR
KS1, can I walk on 3m or do you always recommend at least the 3.5m?
Clemens
The 3.5m minimum is what is recommended for NACA5. For any other cable it will depend on the inductance and capacitance, but it’s unlikely you would need less to achieve similar figures.
For me, it’s all about engagement with the music. Phantom is a good solid performer here, but it doesn’t set the heather alight. Spectre I found the least engaging. I’d go as far as to say boring, which I fed back to WH.
KS-1 makes me sit up and listen, fully engaging with and enjoying recordings across a wide spectrum.
G
I wonder whether I should try a pair of KS1 in place of my A5 into my SL2s?
Seconded, although Mogami 2972 recommended if you are using Shahinians (the Phantoms are “on the substitutes bench” so to speak at the moment due to the “premier league” playing style of the Mogami’s)…cheap too by comparison…in the transfer window.
I came across this speaker cable on the internet. The JM Reynaud HP 1132.Looks a lot like the Kudos KS-1,but more expensive.
It seems that these 2 speaker builders have almost the same findings regarding speaker cables.
And the DH Labs silver sonic T-14
Has anyone tried Canare 4S11? Quoted 146pF/m. so 5metres is 730
FF
Canare 4S11 is not ideal for Naim.
The all important measure for Naim amps is inductance, not capacitance.
The Canare 4S11 has appreciably lower inductance than standard
The series inductance reported in AudioHolics was 0.120uH/ft (0.39uH/Metre)
5m = 1.95uH which is low, Naim recommend 3.5uH minimum per side, which is where the recommended 3.5m length using the 1uH/m of NACA5 comes from
Thanks Mike
My speaker cable journey (250DR to Kanta 2) - from NAC A5 to WH Phantoms to Gotham 58025 to Mogami 3082 and back to Gotham 58025.
Has anyone ever been able to compare the Kudos KS1 with a Tellurium Q Black II or the Ultra Blue II?
Yes. The KS-1 was better with Kudos speakers but I preferred the TQ Black with PMC speakers.
Which sounded brighter to you?
It was bass that was the problem. With the TQ cable there was too much bass with the Kudos speakers. The KS-1 tamed that.
The TQ cable have a fuller sound, the KS-1 did sound leaner.
I have TQ Ultra Black II with Kudos 606 but I’m waiting to receive KS1 to compare each other.
