Alternative to Witch Hat Morgana 5 PIN DIN Interconnect

Hi. I’ve acquired a Naim ND5 XS2 streamer. It’s connected to a NAC82. I’ve borrowed the Chord Solid interconnect I’ve used for years for my CDX, which I was quite happy with (and preferred to various other including Naim Lavender, Chord Epic, Chord Cobra, Nordost). However, it sounds a bit flat with the streamer. Consequently, I’m trying to find a Witch Hat Morgana 5-PIN DIN Interconnect t - but these seem hard to come by. Googling a bit I’ve heard that Ar Sound Lunar is very similar to the WH or possibly CHC Blue or Teddy Pardo Kultura D18. (I’d never even heard of these!) Has anyone got any first hand experience with these or alternative recommendations. Many thanks in advance

The WH Morganna is hard to find for a good reason. The TP is a good alternative, though. I have both and use them, albeit in different systems. Order a TP version; you’ll not be disappointed. Of course, there is the Naim bundled one, and many like it. But it’s nothing special in terms of cable construction and for modest money, it is bettered. I’m sure some Naim bundled cable supporters will be alone and try to convince you.

Have you tried the Naim interconnect that comes with the ND5XS2? It’s very good indeed.

I have, thanks. But for me it lacks a bit of bass and becomes a bit harsh after a while, particularly at highish volume

Thanks. I’ll take another look, but last time i did i was put off by the price and build issues some people had experienced

I don’t know where you are, but in the U.S. the AV Options cables are really quite good. Comparable in cost to a Naim HiLine.

I agree ND5 XS2 is indeed a bit flat sounding, limitation of entry level product, a bargain nevertheless.

And in a demo I found WH Morgana helps doing the Naim thing without the need of good setup. Or if you’ve got a nice setup, a lavender would bring a similar result of soso setup+WH Morgana.

And have to say at this moment I see a Morgana pops up on auction site :grin:

Long time Morgana user: try Gothic Audio Ella/Serix interconnect. I found it to be an upgrade over the WH Morgana, but with a long maturation time (like AVO).

Try JJ (John Jackson) in Thatcham, Berkshire. He is ex-Naim and used to be one of the outside consultants that WH used for cables and their other offerings and may be able to do you a Morgana spec cable.

HI. I’m in England. I haven’t heard of AV Options, though if they’re a similar cost to Naim HiLine, that’s a bit pricey for me! Thanks

Thanks for this. It sounds like the Gothic would be quite a bright and detailed cable (like a Nordost Red Dawn or Chord Epic?). I prefer a richer, bassier sound, which I’m hoping something like the WH will provide. Cheers

One would think. However, I’ve found it to be richer and sweeter than Morgana. I’m using a full loom, but even just using the din interconnect is superb.

I suspect the OCC silver (no grain boundaries) plays a role in this.

Earlier ‘Kimber braid’ designs from Gothic did have this typical silver brightness. Ella/Serix do not. Compared directly with Morgana, AR Sound Lunar Equilateral, TP Koltura D18, and a few others.

What GA does do well is a sweet, open sound that really preserves, and even enhances, the PRaT.

I will say that WH Morgana is also an excellent cable for your tastes, I just think Gothic may be a better one for you.
