Annual Solar generation down 10% - Weather change?

Reliability is high on my list of things for the PV/battery rig. Im not trying to squeeze the last penny from the setup, rather know it is going to do what I want. Always makes me laugh when on say, the Giv forum people are confused why there inverter is doing odd things; they cant remember what api they signed up for last!

My needs are quite simple, and digging into Prebat/HA et al is not ( yet) amongst them.

We have had a third battery added today, another 9.4kWh. It should be enough to stop us running out in the winter, and in the meantime we can export a bit more. We also had an EPS socket added; it won’t run the house but at least we will be able to boil the kettle in the garage if we have a power cut. It was only £145 and may be useful.

We’ve now broken even on our power costs this year. Now we need to build up a cushion to get us through the winter.

Received our first export payment today from British gas covering part of March through to end of May, just under £400. Pleased with that.

Yes I am looking at that, and giving access to the Giv Cloud API for free as well which looks interesting… so from I can see you are at least automatically 14.99 a month better off… plus you can take over control of your battery / inverter at anytime should you need, but it looks like they will likely take control for short periods one or twice a month.

Yes, that’s my understanding. I’m sure many GivEnergy customers will want to consider this given what has happened recently with GivEnergy ceasing trading.

I was watching this last night.

It’ll be interesting to see if they will eventually add Tesla to the list, although I assume Tesla Energy will be offering the same sort of thing when they get operational in the UK.

That’s good going, Gary. What rate are you exporting at ?

We are at 15.1p……no restrictions, dump when you want, it goes down to 12p in July.

Yes, Tesla are, I believe, in the process of releasing their own VPP in the UK, so I’m not sure they would want to support 3rd party services as well.

Hi

I decided to give it ago! Octopus had one recent saving session. They don’t give you much, but it was better than nothing. As I export 40kWh/day @ 3.8kW at present I would probably be exporting until October. I can live with running low and using the grid if necessary.

Why not indeed. Let us know how you get on with it.

Have you participated in an event?

Unfortunately, no, as my Tesla Powerwall 3 is not supported. I don’t expect it will be either since Tesla are making an entrance into the UK electricity supply market soon.

Hmm Tesla’s servers are unexpectedly down for “maintenance” so my Tesla app and the NetZero app don’t work properly at the moment, although apparently my PW3 will carry on working normally according to what I can see on the Tesla app.

Yes I noticed that earlier and saw the message pop up. At least I can get my ‘how much energy have I produced today’ fix from the Enphase app !

Me too. It was fine earlier.

I can still see what I’m exporting via my Octopus Mini and the Octopus app.

Is that the little pink device ?

Indeed. And it was a bu%@er to set up! To be fair though that was mainly because my network is over complicated .

Yes! I think Glenn’s approach to system design may have unexpected bonuses!
