Another jaw drop - add Serafino’s to full 500

Wow!

I have started my first setting up of the Serafinos, and it is unbelievable what is now revealed with the full 500 system. These are my first thoughts on albums I know so well:

Blind Willie McTell - when I upgraded to the 552 and 500 from 252 and 300, I could hear more texture texture and realism in Dylan’s voice. Now I am hearing the delicate guitar spread across the soundstage and wider backwards.

My Immortal Evanescence - not recorded as well as I wish it had been, yet a very sublime piece. Now I am hearing her singing as though it was past tense. She sings ‘you crieD helD chaseD’. I also hear her breathing in before singing.

But now I have a question, because the realism and emotion. Wow. New discovery of mine:

Aquilo Silhouette - the emotion is there. Also another one worth listening to is Amen by Enigma, with Aquilo singing.

The question I have is this. Surely the first item an audiophile must buy is their top speakers and then build the system from there?

Guys you don’t know what your awesome Naim systems are revealing!

Very nice speakers indeed in a very capable system. Well done you :clap:t2:

You’re absolutely correct; speakers/room interaction first, system to drive thereafter.

Enjoy!

Thanks Simon!

I’m going to attach more photos as I cannot resist. Don’t get me wrong I loved the sound of the Monitor Audio PL200s, but the realism which these speakers bring - what the Naim is throwing out. I felt deaf prior to these and I’ve got the fun now of tweaking, following from my other thread about adding anti-vibration elements.

No problem with the speaker porn :grinning:

It’s not every day you get to see £20k+ speakers in action!

As systems get better it is definitely easier to hear/appreciate tweaks and refinements.

Serafino G2 are my dream speakers, but SWMBO isn’t having it.

Loved them at demo.

Enjoy!

Stunningly beautiful speakers. True craftsmanship by the Italians there.
I’m reliably informed by my dealer who stocks Sonus that they sound fabulous.
Enjoy them every day if you can! :+1:

I have to admit, when one invests in such a revealing speaker, the room set up becomes complex. Here’s a link some my find useful:

https://www.acoustic.ua/forms/calculator4.en.html

That gives first reflection points on the side walls, ceiling and floor. Now I don’t know how much leeway you get in your households, but maybe this link will help.

I know my listening room looks scruffy right now - I am fortuitous enough to be granted free rein in this room, she gets the rest of the house. Fine by me! Now if you see what I contend with regarding the spikes and available granite (cemented to cement), you see my predicament. You can also see from my listening position that the toe in is restricted because of this. Now I have ordered Gaia 2s for beneath the spikes so I can allow for one foot being on the laminate.

One’s got to ride the wave of this hobby - I will update this thread when my tweaks are complete, although I hope the above link I posted helps you if you also trying to optimise. :grinning:
