Hi All
Does anyone have any expertise in SD cards? I’m trying to help some friends update the sat nav system in their VW Sharan. I can download the maps etc. that is required, but I can’t find a suitable SD card that will work. The instructions manual says it should be a SD-CDA card. The SD card from my camera (SD-HC) doesn’t work.
Any idea where I can get hold of one?
Thanks
Gavin
Can you elaborate?
There is a vw crib sheet somewhere on the web for updating their satnav systems. As I vaguely recall the difference in cards are with both storage capacity and write speeds. Whether the one works as well as the other ( or at all) I didn’t try.
It gives an error something like ‘can’t read map database’. Even my card with the old map files gives this error so it must be the card.
Any suggestions for finding it? The latest map files are too big for the existing card, although a set covering part of Europe would. Whether my friends would be happy to risk me copying stuff off and on to the existing card is another thing.
I spent ages trying to get the same thing to work. I gave up in the end…
Is this the relevant system?
That’s the one I’ve been following but it seems to be particular about the SD card. Newer pukka ones are available on Amazon for £50-£60 so they might have to bite the bullet. I guess that they get a refund if it didn’t work.
Ah. I did notice that a number of places sell preloaded cards if you can identify which one is relevant.
