Any feedback on Project cartridge alignment tool?

What is the opinion on the Project cartridge alignment tool please? Is it suitable for a Technics tt? It seems to have all three Baerwald, Lofgren B and Stevenson.

If you have the original detachable headshell arm on the Technics, there should be no need. Carts will be mounted dead straight on the headshell with 52mm overhang. I’m not fond of the imprecise Technics overhang measure though and prefer to use the Denon one with has millimetres marked off with a built in loupe.

FWIW, I have always double checked removeable headshell cart alignment later using a protractor and dead straight 52mm has never once been off.

It’s a lot harder with fixed head tonearm and tools and protractors are needed to get it bang on.

Yeah mine is the 1200G. The headshell is removable. The cartridges are all AT with RigB. It’s been such s long time since I fitted the 95 cartridge (over 5 years) that I have completely forgotten how to change it. What’s the Denon overhang measuring tool?

Removeable headshells generally all use a 52mm overhand dead straight alignment. The 1200G should have come with a white plastic stand that the headshell slots into for assisting in cartridge fitting with the bottom tip of the stand exactly 52mm from the cartridge base. The stylus tip should vertically align with that.

The Denon tool is the same thing but provides the ability to look at the stylus from underneath and align it against mm markers. My dealer had a drawer full of them and just hands them out for free.

Here’s a cart being positioned with the Technics tool and the clear plastic Denon tool next to it.

If you ever swap out the tonearm on the 1200 for a fixed head straight arm, you will absolutely need a protractor of some type such as Project tool or one of many others on the market.

That Denon tool sounds perfect. Not quite sure where yo get one though? Are they available for sale?

I’m not sure. My dealer suggested that any dealer who sells Denon decks long enough ends up with a draw full of them. He just hands them out.

I think they specify its for project arms only. I bought one not knowing this and was too lazy to return.
