Bear in mind that the output of a MC cartridge is even lower than a MM, making it especially sensitive to any electrical interference. It’s sometimes necessary to experiment with cable routing and the location of the phono stage relative to other boxes, which may be difficult if you have limited space available.
I’m not saying this will necessarily be a problem in your case, but it’s something to be aware of, especially if you plan to put the phono stage next to a power supply. If your dealer is going to do the installation perhaps you can discuss your racking with them, as they should have experience of this if they sell turntables.
My P9 is now well over 30 years old. About 9/10 years ago Rega checked it over. they just replaced the rubber belt -everything else was fine!!
It will see me out.
P9…in my opinion, the most attractive TT ever.
I had a P25 and then the P9 with the gray Rega P9 tonearm which had the better tonearm cable, fancier arm mounting and the white ceramic platter but the P9 while better than the P25 wasnt a giant improvement and the P25 had the automatic tonearm lift which I missed on the P9. Note the P9 became much quieter when I removed the wood surround. Its a flat less rythmic drive than the LP12 which I prefer.
I had a Linn TT Years ago. A sprung suspension TT is not for me, given my vision and coordination. Leaving aside the issue of better SQ of the Linn, if one has difficulty operating it, then what good is it.
P25 Automatic tonearm lift? You sure?
Old as in RB900 arm or does it have the RB1000 arm? The latter was a big improvement for the P9.
Sounds like it had the RB900 arm (grey vs. polished). The RB1000 arm was a big improvement.
Has the better/later arm, according to my former dealer who I purchased the TT from.
