Anyone for the last few Choc Ices now?

I’m pondering his top 5 performances.

Certainly “Shine on you crazy diamond” will be amongst them.

The song that the post title comes from probably won’t.

Anyone else have a top 5 from CM?

Indeed, wether you’re a Paddy or a Mick!

For me his cover of ‘Beeswing’ is outstanding.

Emm, I will have to give that some thought!

I remember years ago we were over in Donegal for a few days. Of course we were in the pub, but for the life of me I can’t remember which one! Anyway the pub was busy and full of craic when some young local chap was goaded and encouraged to sing a song, though at that time we weren’t aware of which song.

So after a little more encouragement and another pint or 2, he stood at the bar and started singing Lisdoonvarna while tapping the beat out on the bar. It was wonderful! There were no more choc ices left that night for sure :face_with_spiral_eyes:

There are so many sides to Christy, who really is best live. These ones live have the power to bring tears to my eyes.

Cliffs of Doneen
Nancy Spain
Spancilhill
Gortatagort
Ride On

A big favourite of mine is Magdalene Laundry [Live at the Point 2006] .

A beautiful heart felt rendition ably accompanied by Declan Sinnott.

Are you saying that a song that sits beside Joyce, Beckett, Heaney, Kavanagh and Yeats in the Penguin Book of Irish Poetry doesn’t get considered?!

I’ll get my coat!

Having struggled with this, I decided to Iisten to the On The Road triple album and am more undecided than before. I think
Cliffs of Dooneen
Nancy Spain
Ride On
Joxter Goes to Stuttgart
Bright Blue Rose
may be the list, but it could vary within minutes.

Edit to add that I now notice that’s an overlap of 3 with sjb.
