Anyone using Lyra carts with Rega decks?

I use it every 20/30 lps maybe. I put only one drop on a plate and then on the brush. I have to remove my glasses.
Most often I use a gel, Zomba in my case. ( gel fluid, you raise down the arm inside it and it catches the dirt).

How is your sound now ?

I use Stylast Clear to clean the stylus of my Dynavector TKR cartridge. The brush part of the applicator is over half an inch long, and very easy to apply.

(Bought from Amazon, I think.)

I also clean each record side using a Decca/Teldec brush.

Mine was offered with the Lyra cart….

Thanks for sharing your SPT routine.

My Kleos SL has almost 60 hours on it now and is sounding superb. It has settled down a lot since the initial phase. I do plan to try 1mm and 1.5 mm spacers and possibly even no spacers at all and see which I prefer. Just a case of finding the time to do it.

I see that Last offer both a stylus cleaner and a stylus treatment (Stylast).

Instructions for cleaner state you should “start at the point where the cantilever tube enters the cartridge body and sweep towards the stylus tip”. I’ve always been under the impression that one should stay clear of the cantilever. Which is almost impossible.

I have a Lyra Atlas. Here’s my cleaning routine. I use the SPT fluid at the beginning of each listening session, but I don’t use that little white cosmetic brush. I use the blue plastic brush that came with the Lyra, the one with the dense round pad of bristles (you can get black ones anywhere, and they are often included with carts). I put the smallest drop and am careful to just brush the stylus and leave the cantilever untouched.

That’s #1
#2: after each record side or a full record, I use a gentle/soft dry stylus brush I have to remove any dust, etc picked up playing that record. No SPT or anything else.
#3 after every 50 hrs of play, I deep clean the stylus using a Flux Hifi Ultrasonic cleaner for just 10-15 secs.

I think that using the small blue carbon fibre brush to apply the SPT fluid is a good idea and might be easier to work with than the thin white brush. I might try that. Thanks.

For anyone else reading this I have been using the SPT fluid with the supplied brush for years without issue. Works well for me.
