A bit weird set of functions. I’d prefer the ability to reboot, reset from the app. Plus add the early connect. I.e. when the streamer awakes from the deep sleep it takes up to a minute ormore to find the network and only after that it connects the Digital input that was used before the deep sleep or power off.
Me too.
Me too. And it is OK if to hide the option in a weird place to avoid accidental use by users that do not know what it is for.
It’s no use having the reset in the app if the reason you need to reset is because the app has somehow lost connection with the device.
The only way to re-boot my ND5XS2 is to unplug- and plug power. I would prefer an option to re-boot in the app. A factory reset option would also be welcome as part of a firmware update process.
That wouldn’t work as the app wouldn’t be able to remove and reinstate the power ![]()
The most frequent advices are to reboot and reset. Often you have the access to the streamer, but it just refuses to play properly even after reboot. In this case the factory reset might help.
Does the ND5XS2 have a power button?
E.g. the Uniti:s go to power-off, when you long-press the power button. When then powering it on, it performs a full boot sequence, which essentially gives you a “reset” via “off/on”.
I guess, the slow reconnect comes from, that the “PC part” has to boot up, before it can even check, what the control situation was before the boot. Improving on that might need a different architecture of the system. But I’m just guessing here. (If fast connect is important, “standby” would help.)
And that’s part of the firmware, not the app.
If you have suggestions to Naim, send it to them. They don’t (by default) screen the forum for ideas and feedback. (According to their own stance on the forum.)
The ND5XS2 has a button for the network stand-by mode. I have n’t tried a long press. Can’t remember seeing anything like that in the manual.
How about that…Learned something today
A long press seems to completely shutdown the ND5XS2. It is no longer visible in the app (e.g. no network stand-by) and starting it using the button takes much longer. The diagnostics page also shows a reset up-time, so it apparently did a full re-boot. Great!
It does do an almost full power down. It’s called Deep Sleep, rather than the short press Network Sleep.
But, for future reference, common with all other of the streamers and Unitis from that era, a total power off restart does restart even more, so can occasionally fix some issue that a long-press stop and restart doesn’t.
