Decent offer at the moment. £4.99 for 6 months then the regular £9.99.
Via Apple website or Amazon Prime.
I shall invest.
Seems like a decent deal. If we weren’t already getting it as a freebie…..
Working my way through “Slow Horses” at the moment. Then it’ll be another Mick Herron series, “Down Cemetery Road”.
Slow horses is a lot better than Cemetery Rd IMHO.
I do like Gary Oldman.
And “Roddy Ho” is even more obnoxious than he is in the books! ![]()
I am upto date with the books and am not always the greatest fan of adaptations. I will of course watch.
I shall start with Pluribus. Better call Saul’s (Bob Oldenkirk) lady friend in the lead.
Hopefully that will follow in the tradition of Breaking Bad.
ted lasso (best serie ever), slow horses, down cemetery road, for all mankind, severance, silo, foundation, the morning show, h/jack, masters of the air, etc…
not a lot of series, but very good one
never got on with Ted Lasso. perhaps it reminds me too much of the idiocies of my own team!
Another vote here for Slow Horses! Also for any sci-fi fans I thought Severance and Foundation were really good, looking forward to watching Silo & Pluribus.
If you’re in the UK you can also get it for the same price the Op mentioned with some current accounts at the moment.
Not to hijack the thread but has anyone used the Apple TV 4K box and found any advantage in sound/picture over the built-in app on their smart TV?
I use an ATV4K and I’ll never go back.
The ergonomics are so much better than any TV operating system.
I can easily tell it to play sound via Airplay on my Nova ![]()
I look at my iPhone photos.
In short, I’m a fan.
Is that Asimov’s Foundation series? Would definitely be up for that!
Indeed.
Though a slightly modified variant, to make it more suitable for a TV series and non-fully-hard-SF-audience. (E.g. allowing the same main actors across seasons to ease identification.)
Slow Horses is very good, but I think Ted Lasso is excellent. It’s not about football, much more about the people. So well written and performed.
IMO Slow Horses is just about the best series on Apple, or anywhere for that matter. If you are a bit of a WW2 buff, then absolutely watch “Greyhound”. It’s an unrelenting take on one Atlantic convoy and is Tom Hanks at his best.
We have it for a month free due to my wife’s new iPhone, so are binge-watching the well-known shows: Loved Slow Horses s01. Cemetery Road is not bad, if a little silly at times. Loved Ted Lasso. Struggled with Severance - so slow (reminded me of Lost or an episode of Black Mirror stretched over 10 episodes) but overall worth it (my wife was less impressed). The first episode of Pluribus was excellent but e02 was a bit of a disappointment after that. The Morning Show (s01) is very good.
Plur1bus anyone?
I was a little disappointed. Good concept but Like many of these productions we seem to have to endure what I call episode padding. I think it was 6 or 7 where the story drifted up a spiritual cul de sac.
Not a patch on Breaking Bad or Better Call Saul from the same source.
But… I am a cinema man where the director has so much less time to tell or interpret the story.
A bit late to see this here but Tom Hanks is currently filming in Sydney for the sequel to “Greyhound”.
Loved episode 1 and the concept, but the whole series felt stretched out / padded to us too. Nevertheless overall we enjoyed season 1. Whereas Severance really tried our viewing patience!
Been sitting on the fence on that one… still it’s getting great reviews. I did like For all Mankind and a new season is coming out soon.
That’s good to hear. I didn’t ever think there would be a sequel because the story of “Greyhound” had a good and logical ending. From what i’ve read though the sequel moves to Pacific operations, looking forward to it ![]()
