I had a quick look via Google and there doesn’t appear to be much difference between a D810 and D810A. I’m sure there is a useful difference but the various reviews I read didn’t make the differences obvious. I noticed that the sensor was modified to better capture the wavelength of astronomical bodies.
I had presumed that the lens might also be tweaked in a similar manor, but obviously not.
Anyway, I think your infomation will be helpful.
I should remind us all that it’s not myself that is interested in astrophotography, it’s one of my part-time instructors. He works at Chilbolton and I had presumed he would know more about astrophotography than any of us. Apparantly not.
He saw a couple of my pictures (Gold Hill and flying in the Rockies) on the office wall and thought I was a photographic expert !! I soon put him straight but said I would ask the experts here !

I used to have a Canon EOS100 but am totally out of touch with their DSLR models. However, I have a recollection that Simon (the interested party) mentioned he has or used to have a Canon. If so, he might be keen, if for example, existing lenses might fit.
