Atc cd2

Has anyone heard this unit? Thoughts on where it would rank vs the Naim hierarchy of CD players?
I saw the comment below a couple years ago and was intrigued that ATC seem to think this $3,000 CD player was sufficient to front speakers as revealing as passive 40s. Can’t recall seeing any discussion since then.

The end of CD for Naim

Ironically at the Bristol show earlier this year, this appeared to be the case. One of the best sounding systems at the show for me was the new ATC CD2 player with SIA2-100 amplifier driving their SCM-40 speakers. Even better was the price of it all, I was gobsmacked to say the least.

Hi, I have not heard the ATC CD player. But I notice the other parts of the apparently very enjoyable set mentioned are a powerful ATC amp with their speakers.

Coming as they do from a pro audio background, I can easily imagine that ATC’s instincts are to think about matching speakers with amplifiers first and foremost. This remark is in no way intended to denigrate their CD player.
