I have a chance to pick up a pair of KEF R107 speakers. They come with the KUBE, which controls the crossover. The KUBE is generally attached between an amp and preamp or via a tapeloop. The Supernait 2 does not have a tapeloop, so I am wondering where I would connect the KUBE.
The KUBE is designed to be connected to a tape monitor loop, that way it can be switched in or out of circuit. The problem you have with using one with a Supernait 2 is that, being a recent design, there’s no tape monitor switch, which is what you would need so you would need a different amp.
By all accounts they are fine speakers if still in good condition, though I suspect they really need an amplifier with a lot more welly than a Supernait 2, other than the fact that the Kube cannot be used with one. It’s probably a case of getting a different and bigger amp or not getting the speakers.
Takes me back … many years ago I used to run a pair of KEF reference speakers (not R107s) with their matching but optional KUBE. It went between a preamp and MF (mono-block) power amps. It was fun if one felt like tweaking but eventually I found I was mostly setting it flat and decided to take it out of circuit. But think the 107s are designed to be used with the KUBE in place.

Thank you…
The KEF’s have been refurbished, and the price is very good, but it looks like I may be keeping my Dynaudio Audience 72’s
Thank you !
