Thanks - it would be really helpful to see a photo of how much the monsoons bend. I’ve actually got a powerline on it at the moment so I don’t know if it is worth changing but am curious to at least try an AQ mains cable and see if it improves things further.
I believe the Storm series are actually more flexible, especially the least expensive one think it’s the Thunder. It’s also a better cable.
@Pete.T I’ve got an Audioquest Niagara 3000 coming today. Aside from my NAP 250 DR, what would you recommend I plug into the second high current outlet?
Rest of my pluggable things are:
Hicap DR
XPS DR
NAPSC
TV
Virgin router
Amazon Firestick
Cheers,
Will
Hi , hope this picture helps , outside diameter is about 130mm and I wouldn’t want to go much tighter .
At risk of sounding pedantic, that’s a diameter, not a radius!
I’m not sure to be honest , gut feeling thinks maybe the HiCap but a little trial and error wouldn’t go amiss . Might be worth checking with Naim or your dealer on what draws the most current. It’s power Amplifiers that are affected the most as their current loads vary with music . From my research previous to buying my Niagara it seems that with source’s and Pre Amps etc once the level is set it’s set .
I hope you enjoy your 3000 .
You’re right… typo and it’s part of my job to work with Geometry … It’s the end of the week …
Thanks.
Here’s a refresher. ![]()
Most cable manufacturers (electrical, digital, optical, etc.) will be able to supply a figure for ‘minimum bend radius’ which I find can be useful if you’re planning awkward cable routes around the house or behind the rack.
About 45 mm I’d say
Thanks so much for checking and posting the photo - much appreciated! I’ll have a think about which of the AQ cables would be most appropriate to try…
My Audioquest dealer is having amazing Black Friday special prices on all Audioquest products. So just for anyone interested just send me a PN.
I got a Niagara 1200 yesterday for my 82/250 system in the US and am very happy with it. Does everything they claim. Found myself playing things I haven’t in years well into the night. My kit seems more dynamic with nice details. I have the stock power cords on my 250 & HCDR and some nice Furutech cables I put together on the 1200 and my Oppo 205. Audioquest use a lot of flowery language anyone know what “Ground-noise Dissipation” might be?
I think this is to address the grounding issues that Garth Powell sees as one of the main areas for improvement. Read more about it in this white paper.
Go with the Z3 for components- amazing price/performance
Agree! Having evaluated a bunch of power cables recently the AQ Z3 stands out and punch well over its price.
do post how it goes as have a niagara 3000 on my shopping list too
thinking of either THUNDER / hurricane from wall to feed it
wont get to try till april next year though as cannot trust myself if i like what i hear
I know its obvious but don’t forget to use quality cables ideally from AudioQuest with the Niagra.
Agreed. I have several in my system.
Stereophile has a review of the AudioQuest Niagara 3000 AC Power Conditioner:

Reviewer Tom Gibbs includes a lot of details about the wiring, especially the electrical outlets, of his listening room.
any update on how your getting on with the AQ3000 ???
interested in your findings as you have a similar system to myself bar the source
thankyou,
mat
