Aurender A1000

I’ve purchased an Aurender A1000 to serve as front end, and bypass the elderly streamer in my 272. I can also rip my cd collection and store on the A1000 (I was close to buying a used uniti core but shied away knowing Teac no longer makes the drives). I really like the sound. It’s more detailed than the 272 as streamer and not fatiguing. I hope to eventually move to a 282, 252 or 332 when funds allow. But for now I am enjoying music!

Congrats! That’s a fantastic streamer/DAC, unfortunately you’ll find little love here for Korean streamers, but they still rule.

Thanks for your positive feedback. As many on this forum seem to embrace mixing Naim equipment with that offered by other manufacturers I don’t understand why some may have a bias against a streamer made in Korea. I guess I was hoping to hear other opinions from members with Aurender equipment in their systems.

It’s just that most use Naim streamers. Then some buy not expensive transports to have Qobuz and Tidal max on their old Naim streamers ( 272, Ndx, Nds) as Linderman or Prisma.

Then the next bunch, in this forum, is using Auralic, maybe also for the look of it, which matches well Naim.

There’s a guy who has the Aurender S20, with Chord Dave.

I’m not convinced there’s a specific bias against Korean hifi here. This is a Naim forum after all so you’d expect posters here to favour Naim gear, on balance, but I don’t see bias.

I agree, by “no love” I meant not popular, nothing else. Wrong choice of words on my end.

I’ve never tried an Aurender streamer in my system but I was very close to getting an A1000, the only reason I didn’t was that Critical Listening Mode is not supported with Roon, so I went with the Rose 150b instead that was discounted by 40%.

Those of us who frequent high-end audio shows know that Aurender streamers are ubiquitous for the sound quality they provide.

I favour Naim gear too. That is why I’ve owned Naim gear for the last 19 odd years and also why I spend time on this forum.

In Michael Lavorgna’s glowing review from Twittering Machines he wrote that the A1000 is an absolute “screaming deal” as a streamer-dac alone. In my own research I preferred the sound of the A1000 to every other streamer-dac I tested, some costing much more. So perhaps, at its price point, the A1000 is not as ubiquitous as those of you who frequent high-end audio shows opine (I trust Michael Lavorgna attends similar shows).

The N20 is the model you see more often in audio shows IME.

That’s what I’ve seen, too. Lots of N20’s, a few N10’s & N30’s.

Hi @Rap,

I have been looking at both Aurender and Innuos streamers lately. Would you mind telling me if the conductor app allows playing whole albums without adding them to a playlist and is able to sort artists by their last name? I had one of the earlier models on demo a few years ago and I had to put every single track or album into a playlist, I didn’t look at the sorting options back then.

I have been using tidal connect. I still haven’t figured out how to effectively use the aurender app. One thing i didn’t like is that the app will automatically go back to replaying all the songs in your playlist once it gets to the end.
