Your friend’s soldering experience may well be much more at the 10W/delicate/circuit components end of the spectrum, whereas the mighty NACA5 is made of sterner stuff and needs rather more intense treatment. Certainly the ‘leccies I know laughed out loud when I said I’d been recommended to use an 85W iron - one even queried whether such things existed.
I’d certainly show your chum the excellent advice and pictures in the FAQ before starting.

Well the Deltrons arrived. They fit perfectly on the exposed wires (and tight on the speakers). Visited my neighbour and got them soldered on. See pics. Happy with the sonic result too! Maybe even a crisper tighter sound..

Very wise words from JV, and applicable to so many things in hi-fi (and eleswhere in life for that matter). There will always be people around with opinions on this or that being best but often where is the long experience to back up and justify these assertions? There’s no substitute for prolonged experience in forming a meaningful and informative view. Too many people seem to think they know it all after five minutes of being involved in something, or even just from reading about it.
