Best cover of a song

I think Dave Matthews Band, with Warren Haynes sitting in
live in Central Park, covering Cortez the Killer is even better. IMHO

My favorite is the Jimi version. It has more soul for me.

SRV - voodoo child
Alabama 3 - Hotel California

Thanks I’ll give it a try. Although I do particularly like Doug Martsch’s (Built to Spill) voice which is very similar to Neil’s.

SRV Little Wing maybe. Not sure re Voodoo Chile tho…

Poco - Go And Say Goodbye

Buffalo Springfield song given a slight country twang that raises the bar, from the best early Poco album, with three songwriters (Furay, Cotton, Schmitt) in full flow.

Lili Haydn - Maggot Brain. This isn’t bad.

I also like her version of Ain’t No Sunshine.

Turin Brakes - Moonlight Mile

Love - My little red book
Magnolia- Poco
On the way home - Poco
Credence Clearwater Revival- Heard it through the grapevine
Isaac Hayes - The look of love
Crosby, Stills & Nash - Woodstock
Firefall - it doesn’t matter
The Byrds - You ain’t going nowhere
Credence Clearwater Revival- Suzie Q

Try this one, Paint it Black by Ciara.

I am not saying this is the best cover…

The Dickies - Paranoid

They also have an interesting version of the Sounds of Silence, both on this album…

Madge’s unreleased collaboration with Orbit of ABBA’s Like an Angel Passing Through My Room from the Visitors Album isn’t a bad effort.

This has been mentioned before but I’m not sure if the video has been posted. Stairway To Heaven tribute.

I notice John Paul Jones is wearing some sort of hearing protection. Quite wise.
