Best cover of a song

Hi T

Im having trouble tracking down that Fire In The Hole, any ideas? Cheers

I bought it from the River a long time ago. I had a look and except for one on the US site for the ridiculous price of $970, it is not available at all.

Hey thanks. I might pass at that price. Wow

This is by a girl tribute band for Deep Purple called ‘Strange Kind Of Woman’ here they do Speed King slightly their own way, they really bring that elusive spark to this song!

I’ve just checked on Discogs. There are none for sale and 21 - sorry now 22(me) - watching for it.
Good news is top price so far is approximately 20 quid.

Elton John - Lucy in the sky

Very inventive and his band on top form

Don’t know if it has been mentioned yet but this must be one of the greatest covers ever:
Aretha Franklin R E S P E C T a cover of the Otis Redding original that she made her own

Sometimes I think Ani DiFranco’s version of Greg Brown’s The Poet Game is better than the original.

Bill Frisell and Thomas Morgan, “Goldfinger”

I think it’s very cool that Joan did ‘Babe, I’m gonna leave you’, but I don’t know anyone who even knows anyone who knows she even sang it. So I don’t think she can be credited with making it famous.
And I was a folkie for years before turning to mostly rock eventually.
Zeppelin really made it famous.

I don’t know if she wrote it, but I love her version of ‘The night they drove ol’ Dixie down’.

Best cover for me is Phil Collins cover of ‘You Can’t Hurry Love’ by the Supremes.

Slightly off topic I know but I did once hear someone say they didn’t think much of Bob Marleys cover of Eric Claptons I shot the Sheriff I politely pointed out to them that the Clapton version was the cover as Bob wrote the song and they claimed to be big Clapton fans too
