Best mobile phone DAC?

Anyone recommend a mobile with jack socket and superior onboard DAC?

Sony Xperia 1 III is about as good as you’ll get with a 3.5mm jack built in

John Darko was recommending an LG phone a few years ago. If you’re looking for something to function primarily as a music player a used one might be an option.

Sony Xperia here, not sure how you’d go about comparing phones though?

I use some Sony wh-1000xm4 with it when I’m feeling lazy, or plug my Shure closed back wired headphones into it, or use my Chord Mojo. They all sound fine! Though the Mojo is the best.

That’s all interesting. I’m actually using an LG V30 at the moment for “importing” from my Qobuz account to listen where there’s no decent WiFi signal - travelling, for instance.

I use my main device (no jack socket) with a “linking” app and a Dragonfly DAC where there is a signal, but this doesn’t allow for non-Bluetooth listening to “imports”.

I’m tempted to pick up a Sony Xperia 1 III, there’s some bargains on ebay, but following that review I’m not sure it would be a significant enough uplift in SQ to bother? Although the difference in original pricing would seem to suggest that it would.

I didn’t think I would reply because I know nothing about android phones. But any iPhone with an Apple adaptor and a Dragonfly DAC is pretty good. Personally I think the Red is the sweet spot, although the Cobalt Blue at twice the price ought to be better.

I know this is not what you asked but adding a Chord Mojo2 to any compatible mobile device gives incredible results for the package size.

The Mojo2 has an on board battery so as to not drain your phone and as it’s pluggable you can use it on your tablet and computer as well.
