Not being a musician I tend to favour recordings that introduced me to a particular piece of music; and, I think I’m reluctant to embrace new recordings. When discussing this with friends a few years ago, these two recordings were recommended and they became firm favourites.
Recognise the picture. We were standing underneath that sculpture a couple of weeks ago, when visiting Helsinki.

Sibelius violin concerto: only one for me, Anne-Sophie Mutter (with Previn). She’s extraordinary in this work!
