it’s the first may tradition in France. Better not walking in Champs- élysées today.

I prefer the English tradition of dancing round poles, and crowning a May Queen …not that I’ve seen that done for at least 50 years! But tgese days the UK gets a bank holiday - though curiously not on Ma 1st, but the first Monday in zmay. When first introduced maybe 40 years or so ago it was called Mayday bank holiday - now it seems to be called early May Bank hol.

the 1st May is France celebrates also the “ Muguet” flower. You have to carry some if invited somewhere.

There is a nice piece of music - not the Marseillaise - which is written around the May 1 theme: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_People_United_Will_Never_Be_Defeated!&ved=2ahUKEwjhuNSzivvhAhUBKuwKHUPyAt8QFjAIegQIARAB&usg=AOvVaw2HaKMDZ8f6QF82axAQWvvp

this melody reminds me something

That ‘muguet’ flower is known as Lily of the Valley in the UK. It has a lovely scent! What a nice idea to take some when invited anywhere!
