As seen on Clarkson’s Farm…. Identifies birdsong, free, apparently very good.

Just had a go…. It found the following in about a minute, one good thing is that it identifies it really quickly so you can hear it as it appears on screen.
First effort also had a Blue Tit.
Not too bad given I’m in the London suburbs

A lot of Forumites use the Merlin app.

It is great in the uk but I have found it not so good in other parts of the world such as turkey, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Philippines…
Is the birds’ accent that causes issues in those countries I reckon.

Yes I agree, the rest of the world variants are not as good as the UK.
I was better at ID’ing some of the obscure and seasonal migrants in Southern Africa

Tried it on my daily 2 to 4 mile walks some time ago and it full on struggled despite the sound of bird song being everywhere. Recently downloaded it again but confused its use to the back garden and, battery drainage aside, it’s been excellent. I probably understood that we had pigeons and magpies but being able to identify the others has been fascinating. I can’t see sufficiently enough to confirm when it offers a couple of choices, even using low vision aids, which is correct but my father has been useful in that respect as I’ve been able to text him the recordings and he’s immediately confirmed what’s what.
