I have a superuniti with the inbuilt Bluetooth module. I use Tidal to stream with an iPad to control the songs. Unfortunately the system keeps disconnecting and I have to switch off the unit and when rebooting my iPad or phone rediscovers the unit and all fine for a few minutes then disconnects again. Rather than send the unit back to Naim for repair what about buying an external Bluetooth module and plugging it in to the optical port. Would that work?
So why don’t you use the built in Tidal input and control it with the Naim app ? Sounds also better than the BT input.
I agree with TomGroove here: if you control Tidal from within the Naim app you are not using Bluetooth. Is your Superuniti firmware up to date?
Hi,
If you do have an ongoing hardware fault on your Superuniti then suggest DON’T try and upgrade the device while in this state. It’s a common misconception that a software upgrade will magically fix a physical fault, but what it does do is give a high chance that the firmware update will fail (processors off-line / crashing etc) and then it gets in an even more sticky mess.
Best wishes
Steve
Thanks for the replies
The confusion has arisen because when the connection between the ipad and superuniti drops out, the bluetooth notification on the ipad reports ‘not connected’ so assumed that was the fault. The superuniti is hardwired to the router. I have since disabled the bluetooth on the superuniti and using my phone. All ok so far this evening
re: Bluetooth. That uses an independent antenna on the rear of the Superuniti and is independent of the network connection. So even if its ethernet connected, it still needs the bluetooth antenna connected.
