I am about to set up my system again after a having a bit of a home extension.I am not as limited to the space to put it as I was previously. so I am interested in your thoughts on where to put the boxes please on my Naim Fraim. The equipment have is as follows. Naim 552 Amp and Power supply.Naim 500 and power supply.Modwright phono Stage with separate powersupply these are half boxes.Rega Isis CD player and Clearaudio Champion II Turntable. B&W 803 D3 Speakers. I have 2 bases so there will be 2 stacks. as the Cd player is top opening it will have to go on the top of one stack as will the record deck. I did read to separate brain and brawn so how would that work? The room is now fully carpeted and The Glass double doors between two rooms have been removed. this now a wall.Am i correct in presuming this should improve the acoustics?
Brain and Brawn stacks are a good idea. Bear in mind though that the NAC552 does not like to have a digital player such as a CD player positioned above it, so I would put the CD on top of the Brawn, and the TT on the top of the Brain stack. The NAC552 can go under and also the NAP500 head unit, which is also brain. Brawn stack on the right to ensure the Burndies will fit.
I have my nd555 on top left above 552. I found it made it easier to avoid keeping 5pin din-din hanging free and not touching floor. Thought it sounded best this way
I found that having my cds3 head unit above the 552 was not a good idea. Far better moving it away onto another stack. Maybe the streamers are better than cd players in this regard?
