Fair enough. I did miss the point that the NDX was the transport and not the DAC in this scenario.
As to the other, are we really saying different things? I don’t think we are. I’m saying not to go crazy on the cost of the cable. A DC1 is a moderate low cost option I’d not go above. Personally, if it was me I’d go for half that or build my own from Mogami stock.
A DC1 is just a sure bet. It’s designed with the nDAC in mind. You might get a better result with a £50 cable, you might not.
And I think you can get DC1 second hand for peanuts anyway.
Some from this website, I asked AI to collect comments from Naim community or from Naim users, but never trust that kind of information generated by AI especially for budget cable, it’s more for FUN, your ears, your system, your room, you have the final word .
Stacking NDX on top of nDAC didn’t work well for my system. I had to move the NDX to a book shelf beside the audio rack and that is a free upgrade to me
Honestly, the MG one is just as good. And IMO better built/crimped on the bnc connectors. My DC1 had to be returned to naim as one bnc fell off. They had to repair both ends.
Or tuesday, this monday is a B/H. Althoughbif you run your own business that means very little. Trust me, if he can send to Canada for resonable money, just buy one and see what you think.
When I had need of a digital BNC I bought a Belden 4974R, or was it a 4794R? Whatever it was recommended on this forum (by a former member, though he left in a huff since) and it beat the Chord offerings I compared it to by a large margin.
Is your suggestion much of a step up from that?
Yes, Tuesday. We still have to work on Monday though…it’s not one of the statutory holidays here, but the GF is.
In fact, I am going to order two, the second one will be for my CD transport
The Monoprice BNC coaxial cable that I am using right now is Belden 1694A, which is 18Awg, and I think they sound already good. Looks like Belden 4731R is 14Awg? That must be a thick cable…
Yes. The 4731R is absolutely superb. It was noticeably better than a $1k USD AQ BNC, a $1600 Nordost, and a few others.
I actually preferred the Canare by a margin, though. Both are RG-11 and are very stiff + thick. Not a single cable mentioned thus far in this thread would better either of them, in my experience.
Gris 0.5m 175 cad, 1m 200 cad.
The top of the range noir is 2700, 3200 same lengths.
There’s not a lot of info out there, but seems to be well reviewed.
