I have a DC1 which I retrieved from my cable stash a little while back. Wasn’t working and I seem to remember this was why it was in my stash.
Took the decision to open it up at one end and then the other to investigate the plugs. Turned out the wire had come away at one of the plug solders.
I was able to repair myself but poor build quality from Naim on a not cheap cable. It’s not like I treat these things with abandon! I wouldn’t buy another on that basis.
Haha, so it was not just mine then?
Mine was poorly jointed and crimped when my dealer looked it. It went back to naim for £140 repair. Still have it, but imo, the one i use now ( see above) is 1) sounds the same,2) looks better build and 3) the right length for how i have my nd5 xs2 and nDac placed.
I was having a conversation with my dealer about BNC cables a couple of months ago. I asked which were the best they’d heard. The Naim DC1 was sited as an automatic go-to but they reckoned that they’d cobbled together some digital cables made from old QED stock they had lying around that beat the DC1 hands down. They also mentioned that Rega’s digital cable was pretty good. One of the guys in the shop has just bought something from Snake River Audio called ‘Boomslang’, which he said was in a different league to anything he’s heard before. I think there’s a review of it on Audio Bacon?
I use an Atlas Mavros between Auralic streamer and Michi amp/DAC, which is not really ‘budget’, however from past experience more budget friendly cables from Atlas perform well too, so how about an Atlas Element?
Yah, seems to one of the weakness in their upgraded cables. I have the Hi-Line, and I thought I have been careful enough but still managed to have one of the plug damaged a little bit after two months
I have a Blue Heaven between the DCS Network Bridge and the NAC N-272, and I am very happy with it. A lot better than my previous
Audioquest Forest, but I have not made other comparisons.
I use a Ricacle Dedalus between my Primare NP5 streamer and Naim 272. Must be customised as a BNC solution, but I like the result.
Alpha Audio reviewers tested a relatively cheap Mutec BNC cable with good results. Review available in English I think.
