I have never, at any point, claimed that other people are wrong or misguided if they don’t hear burn in. It is the reverse. Those who do not hear it are hell bent on convincing me that I don’t hear it either, that I’m imagining it etc etc.
Still, in their defence I guess they do know my system better than I do and they do know what I am hearing better than I do.
I ‘believe’ my latest Naim system sounds way better than my on-site Makita radio - this is only a ‘belief’ mind. Others may prefer the Makita radio…or can’t hear any difference.
Purchase two (2) pairs of five (5) meter speaker cables. Brand new, same brand, same model, same everything.
Then lie them between your amplifier(s) and speakers. Carefully, they are going to remain there for several months.
Connect one pair and use it for 3-6 months. Don’t worry and be happy. After this very irrelevant period of time, disconnect the first pair and connect the second pair, slowly and smoothly.
If the cables sound different, would you agree that burn in is real?
Amazingly, this happens also with very economical cables in my experience.
You just need 3-6 months of your time and a very reasonable amount of money to perform this experiment, highly recommended.
For @bruss and @Skeptikal, I have a second experiment where you can measure the difference between two identical cables (one new, one burned in) with instruments.
