Burning In

But If I follow some posts here, PRAT is only anecdotic and can’t be considered as a fact.
However, for me and others, perhaps you also, PRAT is real .

I believe PRaT is real but I don’t claim it as fact. It is mostly just anecdotal, AFAIK.

Why ? A fact must be only a scientific thing, proven after several double blind tests?

Fact ( also) : information used as an evidence or as part of a report. ( Wikipedia).

Prat isn’t actually a thing, it’s just a way of describing the sound. Due to the design Naim happens to be good at the rhythmic aspects of the music. The things that contribute to this, such as rise time and slew rates and stuff I don’t understand can of course be measured objectively, but the resulting impact on one’s emotional connection cannot.

Why does it matter? People don’t measure Fleurie against Brouilly. They know they they are both made from Gamay and that because the terroir is different they will taste different. Only a prat would try to apply scientific measurement.

Thomas, I think to remember that you don’t use fancy Ethernet cables. So you have probably made your mind even before testing. Am I wrong ?

As for twilight zone, my post you quoted is dated from 24 hours ago. We are in another galaxy now :upside_down_face:

Lots of stuff here that challenge the original meaning of the word philosophy.
FWIW…I do not believe that anything can be demonstrated to be a fact without invoking the use of suppositions which are said to be self evident…being said to be self evident does not mean that something is true however.
But…I can hear the difference after burning in…I do not need to be too philosophical about it though, it’s quite obvious so my ears and brain!

Ok Thomas, you are laughing at my non scientific post. It’s fair. I would do the same.

However for a lot of us the burn in phenomenon of ethernet cables is an evidence. Apparently not a scientific fact, but I don’t matter.

I thought you had changed all of your Ethernet cables at least twice in the last six months? Is this not true then?

The most important is that this thread relaxes you, after hard climbing.
Do you have a sauna in your Chalet ?

That’s true. I made my decision after using them for a few days, not a few minutes. I don’t believe cable decisions can be made after a few minutes. Others may think they can do it but I cannot.

You should never be surprised by the extent to which interminable bollocks can be spoken.

What means your new avatar ? It’s not anymore an halibut.

It was never a halibut. A halibut is a large fish. Totoro is a sprite.

The bollocks is to use pseudo science ( because anyone here is working in audio domain as an engineer) to denigrate a phenomenon which is real and shared as an evidence. Science can be stupid sometimes.

I agree. See what I wrote about the Beaujolais crus above

Really? Examples?

Who is the most stupid on this pic ?

All of them, assuming they are all doing this at the same time.

Thanks for this post Beachcomber. The first video with Floyd Toole is long, but looks to be well done. I watched the first 9 minutes and will finish the rest later. Finally some sanity… :stuck_out_tongue:
