Cambridge audio CXN 100 streame

Hi
Just joined and I am still trying to find my way around, so I apologize if this is in the wrong place or already answered . I’m looking at the Cambridge audio CXN 100 streamer into my current system FLAT CAP 2x, NAP 150X, NAC 122X. I’m still learning how these components go together and how I know there are subtle differences about other upgrades that I am not aware of - however I want a good streamer source at a reasonable price point , I thought I’d write to see if anybody could offer any advice on this set up. Appreciate your time. Thank you

I would consider also the new Silent Angel Munich MU. Streamer, dac, and capacity storage in one box. Around 2k.

That’s over twice the price and is a big lump considering the other components!

The CA CXN100 is a nice place to start streaming IMO. Really good app that is easy to navigate and the machine will do all you need it to do. Just need a RCA to DIN lead for connection. Purchase from Richer Sounds online and send it back if you really don’t get on with it but I think you will.

A secondhand CXN V2 can be had for a good price which maybe a consideration.

I have a MXN10 and I’m very happy with the performance for the price.

It’s a bit under the price of the Nd5xs2, and you can put ssd storage as in the Core.
Pricier vs the Cambridge, yes. But seems to be on balance, for me, with the electronics .

Yes, the MXN 10 is an excellent buy if you won’t want a screen (I don’t know why people do - I listen to music not watch it).

I have one of these, and I think it’s a great piece of kit, the app is easy to use, connected straight to wifi easily,
Had for a few months now, never had a problem with it, no resets, no reboots,
No hardwire to internet,
The CXN V2 is the previous version,
If you don’t want screen on the front,
MXN10 has the same components inside as the CXN100
But the 100 has VU meter option,

Those VU meters make me crazy

I have the Cambridge AXN10 and if you have Roon, you’ll never miss the screen. It also sounds really good for not a lot of money. I bought it direct from Cambridge for about £350

I have been using the CXN v2 as a digital source into a Naim nDAC for many years. I have had no problems with it and to my ears it sounds great. I have tried it’s analogue outputs directly into my NAC282 with NAP200DR and it sounds excellent as well, although the nDAC does give a marked improvement. The SreamMagic app works well and integrates with Tidal and Qobuz for easy access to streamed music. I would think the CXN 100 would be an excellent choice.

Thank you for all your comments . I am going to research the other streamers mentioned here to compare . Unfortunately I live where the concept of auditioning a component is unheard of - so have try get it right first time . Thanks for your time . Appreciated

Good luck,

If you have a Tidal subscription you can stream music videos and songs from music concerts, they are really excellent and the sound quality is superb too.
Ive been collecting music videos and concerts since the 80s, originally on VHS tape, then DVDs and later Blu-ray discs, its an excellent way to watch/listen to music.
There is a Thread running in the Home Theatre Section on Music DVDs and Blu-rays to see what people are watching/listening too.

Hong Kong presumably? Is it not possible to audition at a dealer in HK? Is there not a sensible returns policy if you don’t like the kit?

Me personally I would buy the CXN V2 cheap as chips at mo,
And is in What hifi hall of fame,
If you like it, keep it,
If not probably sell it same at price or maybe slightly less, or maybe more?
I don’t think there will be much difference in SQ between them,
Good luck
Have a read of what hifi streamers
If you can’t test before buy,
