Hi,
Im looking to upgrade from XPS dr to 555 for my NDX2 - but I am not finding consistent information as to whether the CD 555ps DR is the same as 555ps DR.
May seem a dumb question, however, what I find online is not helpful.
Thanks
J

All one and the same.
Was originally certified as “CD 555PS” and so changing name might have caused issues. It became a more general purpose PSU than just for CD players.
Of course it doesn’t help that the new naim website calls it the “NAPS 555 DR” ![]()
555PS DR
CD 555PS DR
NAPS 555 DR
Take your pick.
Here’s the back of the current model from naim website:
Thanks a lot - I found a good used ND 555 and 555ps to replace my NDX2 and XPS DR. So thought this was a decent upgrade as I can trade in.

The PS is DR, yes?
Should be a great upgrade ![]()
There are some variants of the CD 555PS DR,
Classic - which has the rough coated top and sides.
Reference - which has the smooth anodised top and sides to match the front. I have this variant with green logo.
I understand these have been also been offered with a choice of green or white logos
The 555ps is a dr version.
Thanks to everyone for the input.
I may put on hold as currently in process of upgrading speakers from Kudos C2 (I have had a long time while I upgraded source and power supplies) to PMC Prophecy 9.
Will wait for these to settle in then decide.
Best
J
To be honest I think I’d go ND/PS before anything else, especially if it’s a good deal as they just don’t seem to come up that often. With the FW mostly fixed it is a remarkable piece of equipment when settled. It can get very close, if not better than some good analogue equipment.
