I’m planning on using a CDT linked to the NDX2 to take advantage of the NDX2 DAC.
Is anyone else doing this and what CDT would you recommend, I currently have one on trial and it has blown my CD5si away.

I use an AudioLab 7000 CDT in this very configuration with my 282/300 system.
It has been a very successful purchase.
I have a Naim CD5XS and CDX2.2 which I use as transports into the NDX2
Both excellent although difficult to find these days
Mate of mine has the Audiolab 9000 CDT which is very very good, I’m sure would sound excellent into NDX2
Thanks I have a 9000 on loan and and i’m very impressed with the clarity compared with the CD5si.
Looks like I might be going in the right direction. It was suggested by my dealer and he has been incredibly helpful over the past few months as I have transitioned away from Vinyl.
A few members have got the Marrantz SA12SE and are very pleased with it.
DG…
Naim Core- I use the Core into my ND5XS2/nDAC/PS555DR and it sounds superbly musical.
I use a Moon 260D Transport into my DAC (Lumin P1) and am very impressed with the sound quality performance using the AES digital connection. Much better than my previous Roksan Caspian M2 CD in Transport mode using RCA coaxial connection, which was the purpose of me upgrading to get the best out of my large CD collection.
Marantz SA12SE is great with ND555. It can be used as a CD transport, an anolgue CD player or DAC. Have used it as DAC with Limetree bridge and it works well.
I am using as a CD transport. Brilliant build quality and being sold for half price new at the moment. So a £3200 CD transport for half that price.
I recently purchased a TEAC 505T which I put through my NDX2 dac. Very happy with it and currently circa £900 in the UK. As ever your final choice depends on your ears and budget!!
Thanks for the response, I’ll take a look at the Marantz and Teac they seem popular choices.
Have a lovely Xmas everyone.
Thanks for the response-I am sticking to streaming and CD, as a non tecky and too many CD’s it would take forever to rip and catalogue them all. I can see the benefit and if I was 20 years younger would probably go that route.
I hear so many positive comments about the PS555DR it might be my next step.
Have alovely Xmas
I get this but I’m ancient and still replaced my CD player with a Core. I’m not really interested in other manufacturers tbh so a CD player was a non starter. Naim’s like an extra limb after 45 years. I started ripping by just ripping any CDs which weren’t available to stream on Qobuz & ended up doing the lot. I found ripping enjoyable rather than a chore, renewing acquaintance with some old friends. You could just rip as you play of course! You don’t have to rip your whole collection at one go. Ripping on the core is fast and incredibly simple.
I’m not in the market for a CD transport. If I was i’d certainly want to audition the ProJect CD Box RS2 T CD Transport. I’m surprised how little interest the ProJect generates given the excellent reviews and the pleasure a top loading player gives. Perhaps there’s some issue pairing it with an NDX2? There certainly isn’t with the Core which is a cracking match and a beautiful looking bit of kit. Anyway that’s my two penny worth. Hope you get what you want. Merry Christmas
Another very happy Audiolab CDT9000 here
The project transport sounds great. But unfortunately other things let it down.
The lid isn’t very nice, it’s plastic and just feels cheap.
The unit is far to light and just pushing a button to operate it means that the unit itself moves.
The display is also a slight disappointment.
All the above just takes away from any in joy ment you would hope to get using something that costs over £2000 and only has a transport inside it.
It’s a shame as when i tried one i liked how it sounded, but knew that i would hate using it.
I use a Heed Thesis Delta CD Transport into my NDX2. It is quite stunning sound wise. Half width and built like a tank.
Excuse my ignorance but when you buy a CD transport what do you get? Isn’t the difference the DAC rather than the transport?
I have the 9000cdt on trial still and am pleased with it into my NDX2 and also the NSC222 currently on demo. I’m happy to pay £3k for a CDT if anyone can explain what I am getting above the choice of Top loading, Front slot or Tray?

I’m curious about this and the Moon 260D hence my question.
Would it be possible to use my CD5si as a transport into the 222?
No.
No, it is analogue output only . An item such as the AudioLab costs around a third less and uses the DAC supplied with a streamer.
I have a Naim CDX 2 which has been converted to digital output only, it goes into my ND5XS2 and that uses the DAC in my streamer .
Often it saves money and produces an equivalent or better sound. The Naim CD player really needs to be re-launched with a digital output or Naim need to start manufacturing a CD transport
