If the link plug on the rear of the cd5 is not connected, will the player read discs (with track contents showing on the display and show it playing the disc but with no sound output) or, will it simply not function, ie not read the disc at all.
The link plug is there to enable the analogue output stage to be powered up without the need for an offboard power supply such as a Flatcap 2. If the plug is not fitted and no offboard supply is connected in its place then the player should function but there will be no analogue output.
