CD5 Xs link to a 5si amp

Again if you are going to quote me do not do so as a whole or at least a whole sentence. You have started an incomplete sentence with a capital suggesting it is the full sentence and it rather changes what I said.

However, I suggest we leave it there rather than bore everybody to death

If you want to explain/expand/clarify or elaborate then please feel free to, but I’m afraid that as it stands none of what you say appears to make a great deal of sense and is self-contradictory.

Hi everybody I have now connected my CD5 XS to my Nait 5Si amp via a Naim 5 pin snaic lead at it works perfectly. I thought I try it before using Din- Din .My next goal is an upgrade on the Amplifier so I can add other Naim units. The discussion was very interesting as Naim UK do not show interchangeable items in the way I’ve used them but only in there original upgrades .
Thank you for all your advice.
Happy music :notes: playing.

What are you calling a Snaic?

There isn’t a 240 degree DIN socket here to receive one.

Hi the 5 Pin CD outlet from the 5Si as your picture shows or is this another wrong terminology . I am not here to critic people but give just link equipment & enjoy music :notes:.

Naim’s current web site does lump what hitherto has been referred to as a Lavender interconnect, which only carries signal, in with Snaics, which can carry signal and DC power. The forum FAQ explains the difference but whoever is redesigning Naim’s web site either hasn’t read it or there’s a move to simplify the terminology, which is causing confusion.

The FAQ enlightens all…

I must admit that when I recently used the Naim website to look up which cable (type of SNAIC) to use between FC XS and XS3 I was none the wiser - I could not find any information that went into detail about 4 pin, 5 pin etc.

Fortunately, advice from forum members and a phone call to the dealer I bought the second cable I needed from (the FC came with the other) was what I needed.

As a general note, ref ā€˜discontinued’ products, there is not as much detail as there used to be. This includes the recently discontinued classics range. Fortunately the manuals are still linked as a PDF therefore I would recommend members access these if required.
