CD5si err

I have a new Naim CD5si which produces excellent sound. On a recent CD the track stopped playing and the err message appeared. I tried the same CD on my very old Sony CD player and there was no problem. Why should the new Naim behave like that whilst there was no problem with the 30 year old Sony player? I have tried cleaning the disc but that had no effect.

Unless there’s a pressing error on the disc itself (not unknown these days, sad to say), it may indicate that there’s an issue, possibly with the mech as in any CD player they can potentially fail at any time. You say it’s new so it’s probably under warranty (why it’s there), you’ve just been unlucky. In your position I would contact your supplying dealer.

Clean the CD?

Try unplugging the Naim CD player for about 20 minutes then plug in again and try the CD. I had similar issues with my Rotel CD Tribute and doing this cleared the problem. Worth a try.
