Hi all my cdx has started playing up ,new puck recently, is the5si a safe bet for a replacement
@Jessie People on here are divided about CD5si SQ. I had no issues in that regard, but I did have reliability issues. I moved to the Luxman D03/X. No regrets. Much better build quality, but at a higher price.
Hey Jessie, I’ve got a CDX2.2 and love what it does, I had a Rega Apollo CDP most current version give up the ghost so went looking.
That resulted in buying a Denon 1700NE cd player, absolutely fabulous player and real eye opener.
In the UK it’s available on some decent deals and it would definitely give the CDX2.2 a run for its money, build quality like a tank.
5Si is discontinued, only remaining stock available out there.
I’ve owned CDX and 5Si, very different - 5Si being entry level.
As far as I know Naim do support these players.
At the asking price your close to afford a Rega Saturn 3, which is in entirely different liga. Also Rega have a superb customer support.
Mmm, I’ve been coveting this player for awhile. My son is about to acquire my Marantz SA8005, so a replacement SACD/CD player is on the horizon.
Hi Jessie
Just a thought my CDX is getting on for 27 years old this year bought pre-loved from TomTom Audio about 7 to 9 years ago. Apart from having a new puck supplied on purchase nothing else has changed.
A long shot but I treat my CDX to a laser clean with an Allsop CD lens cleaner and a run through with a Densen De-Magnetiser disc that I bought years ago
Doesn’t do any harm, as the old girl continues to spin with no issues
Never been a fan of using something like liquid or ear buddies near the transport mech etc
