Whether some piece of hifi sounds good to you or not is a subjective thing and personal one too. Personally, I certainly don’t need everyone to agree with me as to what I like or don’t like. But some may take an interest in what I like or don’t like. And that’s fine by me.
If someone posts that they have tried product X and it improved the performance of their music replay then that’s their opinion. It may well encourage others to try for themselves. Whether they agree or not I don’t know, but it’s all subjective.
That’s fine, but if anyone on a public internet forum makes claims about the efficacy of certain products, then it’s also fair game for others to challenge those claims with critical questions.
If that’s considered tedious, trolling or otherwise on these forums, then there is apparently no real interest in finding out what is real or not. I just don’t understand what the added value of having a discussion forum is in that sense.
Maybe i’m just hanging out at the wrong forum, that is perhaps the most likely conclusion.
Do Naim try these sort of devices themselves.
Not just this device, but any other tweak ?
Or do they only test Naims own tweaks (Air plug, Super Lumina, Fraim etc)
I remember when we had in a bunch of expensive mains conditioners, basically because a number of customers were urging Naim to try one or other that they felt worked really well. Naim of course saw there may be benefits in cleaning the mains. The results though were that performance was impacted unacceptably. One managed this despite not having anything directly plugged into it!
No, you didn’t misunderstand at all. I’m a sceptic, albeit not as militant as some. But it’s been suggested, fairly enough, that one shouldn’t opine without first trying it - and actually I’ve asserted this before, so would be a hypocrite if I didn’t heed my own righteousness!
Plus, a few people (you included) reckon this thread will get cut short if the topic doesn’t swing back to the divisive device, and I don’t want this to happen. So I plan to give it a go and let others know (should the thread still be open).
And yes, I can 100% guarantee that if I think it makes a positive difference I shall fess’ up and eat humble pie.
I look forward to it! (Your listening conclusion that is - I have no interest in whether or not it includes description of consumption or rejection of pie!)
went over to my mates house this morning with the demo RJ45 & 5 Pin Din to din, as I mentioned my friend is a NAIM owner and has been for some time - his main sources are Stiletto LP12/KEEL/ARO and ND555/555psu through 252/300DR
played a few of his albums before added the 5 Pin just to warm everthing up , to be fair he wants to take more time over the deck and will report back, which Is what I would expect from him -
on my way back up the M5 (not at its best this morning with Holiday traffic) in coming call… if I have just tried the GroundARAY on my ND 555, I won’t go in to some of the Angelo Saxon used but he thought the improvement was there and moreover credable - more space, soundstage and musical detail - he is going back to the LP2 later and the RJ45
he has already phoned @Cymbiosis and placed an order
as for me I will be spending the afternoon with my system
I’m looking forward to getting my DIN on Monday…won’t have time to listen properly till the following weekend, but as Richard intimated, curiousity is certainly whetted!
totally agree and a home demo should cost no more than time, if then on reflection it’s a NO return to sender it might cost you a recorded delivery at worst
Indeed! (I think most if not all of my signal connectors have gold plated mating surfaces so corrosion not an issue - and Brasso would soon change that by removing the gold! )
