Hi anyone got experience of chord powerhaus m6 improvement after burn in also using chord epic lead
I’m not sure it’ll be of any help but I’ve just had an M6 on loan for two weeks together with a P6 that I purchased. The P6 took a couple of days to settle with the stock lead but I do have a Chord Epic with it as well. At the moment I’m not quite sure if I prefer the stock lead or the Epic?
With regard to the M6, even after two weeks I never really got it to work in my system. This is the second time I’ve loaned one and each time I’ve found it kills the micro dynamics of Naim kit and robs it of excitement. Lots of control but no real emotion! Two of my favourite tracks that are peppered with high energy and emotion just sounded mundane on the M6 compared to the P6. I’m not sure that Naim kit responds well to the array stuff.

In contrast, I’ve had an M6 for a while now and have had the opportunity to compare it to the S6, which, although really good, is nowhere near.
I had been happily using my dedicated mains set up (6x10mm spurs, dedicated earth etc etc) and had no intention of changing but was urged to try one and didn’t look back. I certainly didn’t find that it had a negative impact on dynamics or emotional impact, far from it in fact.
I have tried several different mains leads with it, including Epic, which was great but went the whole hog with a Music after a home trial. Don’t go there unless got the savings in place!
Worth adding that socket allocation is important. With the M6, with its integral Arrays, you plug the noisiest components in first. For the S6 and P6, it’s the reverse.
Maybe it’s a better match with your Linn Kdsm?
Maybe, but I heard the same thing with Chord Dave/MScaler. I don’t think it’s somehow adversely affecting Naim

I used an M6 with an Epic cable with my Moon/Chord kit before downsizing back to Naim. It does take a while to burn in (oh no…), or to imagine that it’s burnt in if you prefer, but either way it then sounded superb. Far better than the S6. Having said this I have to add that when I removed it from the system out of curiosity, I did think that although the sound took a definite step back in most respects, the music seemed to flow better and was more tuneful. I didn’t bother experimenting further and just put it back in because overall I felt the sound was much better like that.
I’m selling my Chord mains blocks now anyway but looking back I’m not so sure that I wasn’t using them to address shortcomings, which they did remarkably well, but in doing so maybe they were creating other issues. It’s the kind of thing one only really becomes aware of in retrospect and I really can’t be sure. It doesn’t affect me anymore because I won’t be using them in my new system, but I would now be more wary about using them. And certainly in a Naim system. They aren’t just mains distribution blocks. They, especially the M6, contain technology to reduce HF noise on the incoming mains.
TBH if I needed a mains block now I would stick to home made. That’s a complete about turn from what I used to say, but I’m not afraid to change my views in the light of further experience.
