I just found out he died two days ago, July 22nd. RIP.
It’s been a bad week for musical passings. RIP Chuck - a big jazz crossover star in the 1970s. Only a couple of weeks ago I saw a youth big band play his ‘Feels So Good’ from the big selling A&M album.
Oh no RIP
(Chuck Mangione Dead: 'Feels So Good' Jazz Horn Player Was 84)
Knew a lot of horn players in college - they all agreed his chops weren’t that great, but they all loved him just the same.
Sad indeed.
But already a thread on it.
Richard will certainly merge.
Really sad news. Absolute legend in California and hugely enjoyed recorded legacy in this house. R.I.P. Chuck.
His music for ‘The Children of Sanchez’ was a favourite demonstration track during the development of the Mission 770 speakers. DGP
Trumpet/flugel for Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers in the 60s for a period. Got to respect that. Also some good Riverside LPs with brother Gap during that period.
Thats the least musical thing i have ever heard, utter nothing burger, each to their own
