Cocktail Audio /Novafidelity

Cocktail Audio /Novafidelity, are no more. I find myself with an unsupported Streamer. The software app has gone from the Apple App store.

The Italian distributor mention using the generic Mconnect Player. Can you drive the variuos streamers with 3rd party apps?

I have no knowledge of these products but the Auralic range will connect to any open source upnp/dla controller such as mconnect, lumin or Bubbleupnp. I would give them a try.

Probably. Some streamers, such as those made by Auralic, use the OpenHome platform. If so, it can use another manufacturer’s OpenHome app. For example, Linn streamers are OpenHome and I can control my Auralic streamer with my Linn app. I don’ know your streamer, but the Linn app is free so it costs nothing but a little time to try.

If that doesn’t work as it doesn’t with Naim streamers as they are not OpenHome out of the box, what you can do is to run BubbleUPnP Server somewhere on your network and this can be used to render Naim streamers OpenHome compatible. I run it on the NAS on which I store my music files and I can then control my Naim streamers with the Linn app. Again, I can’t be 100% sure it will work with your streamer, but Bubble server is free, so it’s costless to experiment.

Than you both for the replies.

The Cocktail App still works on my current iPad, but it is getting long in the tooth. I am interested in alternatives before I it becomes an emergency, or time to buy a new streamer.

You can use Mconnect with Naim.

Indeed. And JPLAY. But neither is free (except a cut-down Lite version) and I’ve no personal experience of either.
