Appreciate any help out there please. I am a complete beginner and although the set up as per photo works, the volume control is not useable, only va the app or remote control.
Is that right or have I mad a schoolboy error.

Which volume control is it that doesn’t work? Do you mean the actual volume knob on the preamp? If so, it may be faulty.
When you say that the remote works, do you mean the NDX2 remote or the preamp remote?
Is the NDX2 digital volume control enabled in the app? If that’s what you’re actually using, ideally it should be disabled in the app settings menu for best sound quality and the preamp volume control used instead.
You don’t have the 122x connected correctly. The SNAIC5 from Hicap Socket 4 should be connected to the 122x Upgrade socket (remove the link plug) not the Aux2 & Pwr socket you presently appear to have it connected to.
Also the NDX2 should not be connected to the powered din socket. Try CD or tuner.
The Snaic 5 is the wrong way round.
It isn’t - the powered socket is the next one along, with the SNAIC5 (incorrectly) connected to it. The DIN5 interconnect wouldn’t fit in the powered socket (180 vs 240 deg). Agree with your other comments.
Ah yes, you are right. I was confused by the label being above the standard aux 2 socket. As you say, an interconnect wouldn’t fit anyway.
