Forecast says rain about 17.00hrs. So might wreck the 2nd innings.
If they had any sense they would move it to a day game instead of a day/night.
And I’d get a good nights sleep. The TdF is keeping me up to till around 1am.
BBC WX shows light cloud & dry (???)
BBC Website. Hope they are wrong. I watched the guy also with the charts behind him.
Friday
Low pressure will bring wet and windy conditions to the north on Friday. Sunny to start for central and southern regions but clouds will build up through the afternoon
This was posted on the social pages of a cricket bat manufacturer; it’s from Wisden and describes why and how balls swing.
Will we get a full days play?
Cool and cloudy but looks hopeful. Showing about 25% chance light rain after 9pm but only 5% before that. Improved from yesterday’s forecast.
Good forecast generally next week
Poor batting by the Aussies v good bowling, don’t think I’ll stay up all night watching this.
What’s a par score on this ground?
297 according to the commentary just now.
Hi Pete, its past your bed time !!!

Flicking between the cricket and the TdF (and F1) I’ll probably drop off after the bike race.
We may get a decent score if these 2 stay manage to last till at least the 45 over. Either way it’ll be a highlights package in the morning.
Can we go back to T20s? Good bowling by the Aussies here, and England unusually don’t seem to know where to score runs.
Just started to read this. Very moving and all profits to Prostate Cancer.
Zampa really reminds me of a very young Steve Smith.
Pete’s going to enjoy his breakfast tomorrow morning. Good win for Australia. Roll on the second game. In other news my Notts team powerhoused their way to another good T20 victory this evening. Looking good but setting themselves up for normal knock out stages disappointment…
Yep Pete’s enjoying breakfast on a beautiful Saturday morning. I was a little surprised by the Aussie total after being 5 for not many, . Looking forward to the next game.
A well-deserved win Pete, with Maxwell getting some runs (he was due!), helped by some not very clever bowling in the middle phase of the Aussie innings. Marsh also showed a simplicity of purpose.
This England side had a very different feel to that which played the WC SF, with the batting (sans Stokes) looking under-powered, with the fear that if we lost wickets early doors, we would struggle - and so it proved to be. I’m surprised we got quite close and credit to Billings - but in reality we were never up with things. Bairstow’s bat looked like an alien implement in his hands and Roy looks out of nick to me. We really needed a sticky Malan-type innings in this game - I’d shoe horn him in to this batting line-up. He’s the form player alongside Buttler, who tried to go big far too early last night.
Think the teams are very evenly matched, letting us off the hook at 5 for I think ultimately cost England a win. Might try and get an early night so I can last a bit longer on Sunday (night). Who’d thought I’d have an early Saturday night so I could watch cricket on Sunday. I’m obviously getting old.
