From the BBC: There are an extra two hours available today to ensure a game is done with a minimum of 20 overs per side, and there is a reserve day in place tomorrow.
But hypothetically, if a team bats 50 overs today and then fewer than 20 overs are bowled of the chase, the game will resume from the same point tomorrow.
“In Brook’s first 15 deliveries he twice danced down the pitch and attempted a T20-style scoop at opening bowler Matthew Fisher. From Brook’s 16th delivery, he again advanced towards seamer Nathan Gilchrist, ending well outside leg stump as the ball hit the top of off.” BBC.
I hope that when it matters he can plug his brain in properly. I’m hoping, of course, that he has one.
Duckett, Pope, Crawley scored 226 between them. Brook and Root scored 3 combined. Sometimes it is really hard to support this team and the apparently relaxed approach to preparation.
Hoping for some intensity when the real action starts. Australia won’t lack it that is for certain.
The biggest difference between England and Australia has often been grit. Our system is too comfortable, there’s always another game tomorrow approach.
Hmm, not good news for the Aussies. Is age catching up with this incredible bowling group? Only a short gap between 1st and 2nd Tests for Cummins and Hazlewood to recover, then there is a bit of a gap before the third. Looking more and more important that England start the series well.
Stokes appears to be fit to take a decent workload which makes selection easier. If they want to give Wood a bit longer that wouldn’t be a big issue, they could still pick an all pace attack. Or Jacks as a batting/spin option.
Getting excited. Australia still favourites, but a bit less confident now I reckon.
