It is first innings bowled outs that I believe is a bad stat. As are the matches won ratio.
I watched my local county, Worcs, play a One Day Cup match at home last summer. I really enjoyed it, it felt like properly played cricket and you can see the whole match in a day. Not a slog fest. Much closer to 4 day than T20 imho.
I find the T20 quite enjoyable on TV, but live, PA commentator shouting, music blasting out and explosions going off. It’s clearly not aimed at me.
I shall go back down this year for a match or two. Amazingly Worcs won the competition last year which was remarkable given their tiny budget and the wages they can offer.

I’m not defending brain dead play, Adil running down and being stumped when there was a set batter at the other end and he could have pushed a single was appalling. But I’d be really interested to see how swinging tails do against blocking tails..
That’s great. I go to the One Day Cup at Taunton. Very enjoyable games played properly. They get very good support (pretty full houses) as there are no Hundred games down here. It’s great for the players involved, the youngsters and those not involved in the Hundred or on central contacts. Having said that there are no current England players involved and so they are not playing 50 over cricket. Not enough time in the season to have two 50 Over competitions I guess!

Really enjoyable, Test quality cricket. Brook desperate to get out in the weirdest way he can manage*.
Bumrah is just unplayable at times but I am increasingly looking at Bethel and wondering if we will see that potential turn into consistent outcomes

I hope Joe Root (and others?) ask for some of Brook’s match fee, as not for the first time, we see his talent self-destruct.
I don’t remember Cardiff playing as bouncy as this. The ball often flies back over the bowlers’ heads, reaching the Taff. This strip looks like it’s become concrete.

The experts mention younger players learning batting with Root. However, the one who has possibly batted with him most, Brook, seems to be regressing!

Very sad to hear that Gary Sobers has died. The greatest cricketer of them all and my all time sporting hero.
He was the best batsman I’ve seen and was wonderful on the eye.

Sad news. I remember seeing his 6 x 6s on TV. Pretty amazing then and now - RIP.
Always thought that, like Clive Lloyd, he was in a class apart.

I consider Sobers the best cricketer of my lifetime. Brilliant batter. Excellent fast, medium, slow and spin bowler. Wonderful fielder. Great captain and always came across as a top bloke. Expect he was also a great wicket keeper. R.I.P Sir Gary.

Yes, sad news. There is BBC footage on YouTube of Gary Sobers’ last Test innings in England when he scored 150 at Lord’s in 1973. Wonderful to watch.

Eng bat first in the deciding ODI. Tongue for Mahmood and Bumrah injured. Probably the last time we see Rohit Sharma in England?
Seems like Jacks is now the favoured ‘spinning all-rounder’ and Rehan Ahmed isn’t seen as a replacement for Rashid, or indeed Bashir. Jacks has done well to be fair but Ahmed surely deserves a game. He has been carrying the drinks all summer across various formats.
