DAC-V1 and MQA

If one needs just a DAC and neither USB input or preamp, I would look elsewhere than the V1 and find a DAC that is a DAC only, no preamp. Contenders that come to mind would be Matrix Sabre, Border Patrol SE, and Denafrips, but there are a lot on the market. Then the OP could use an RCA>DIN cable to go from the DAC of choosing to the 202. Even a used nDAC would be a better choice imo than the V1 in this setup.

Ok tnx, I’m starting to think V1 it’s not the best choice

Or if you have no analogue inputs, can the V1 be used direct into a power amp (i.e. are the source impedance and buffering adequate?), as you can with Chord DACs having inbuilt volume controls, and so obviate the need for a separate preamp, enabling that to be sold?

Maybe is better sell the NODE and buy a nd5 xs2

yes but if i want to stay in NAIM world instead of v1 maybe it’s better to go to the ND5xs2?

Yes, the V1 is a proper preamp as well as DAC - just with no analogue inputs. I run mine to a NAP CB 160 BD. Sounds great to me.
